The Oakland County Sheriff, Michael Bouchard, has endorsed Christensen Law’s Safe Ride Home, happening tonight. Sheriff Bouchard urges Oakland County Residents to get a Safe Ride Home and avoid drunk driving.
Thanksgiving Eve is a big night for bars and restaurants across Oakland County. Local residents frequently gather with out-of-town family and friends. Since most households plan on cooking large meals tomorrow, they choose to dine out tonight. But all that celebration leads to an increased number of traffic incidents, particularly drunk driving accidents.
At Christensen Law, our auto accident attorneys help the survivors of drunk driving accidents all the time. We know what “one too many” looks like from the other side of the airbag.
That’s why last year Christensen Law launched its Safe Ride Home initiative. Motorists in the Metro Detroit area can get a free taxi or Uber ride home after celebrating, on Christensen Law’s dime. The Safe Ride Home project has provided over 300 trips to residents on Thanksgiving Eve, New Year’s Eve, St. Patrick’s Day, and Independence Day.
Now Christensen Law is honored to have received the endorsement of Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard. In a statement issued today, Bouchard said:
“Please be safe, use extra caution, and protect yourselves and others with defensive driving. Call the police if you see a drunk or impaired driver. . . . Also, if you are going out drinking, plan ahead with a designated driver. If you have had too much to drink, call a cab or an Uber. Consider using the local Safe Ride Program, which will reimburse you for your cab or Uber ride home up to $35. Working together, we can ensure families and friends are united in joy and thanksgiving instead of sadness and mourning. Best wishes for a happy and safe Thanksgiving.”
