Tom Economy

Attorney and Counselor

Tom Economy is an Association Attorney at Christensen Law in Ann Arbor, Michigan. An experienced attorney, he came onto the Christensen Law team in November 2016. Tom is an essential part of the legal team, fighting for injured motorists’ no-fault benefits and Third Party damages.

Economy attended the University of Michigan – Dearborn, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in 1996. He went on to complete his Juris Doctor (JD) at the Michigan State University in 1999.

Tom is an experienced trial attorney and has spent nearly his entire career helping injured people. He has emphasized automobile negligence, no-fault insurance, and other personal injury litigation. Tom also worked briefly for well respected insurance defense firm. This provided him with valuable insight into how the “other side” views and handles personal injury cases. Tom Economy is also a skilled appellate lawyer, having briefed and argued numerous cases before the Michigan Court of Appeals as well as the Michigan Supreme Court.

Tom Economy will be involved with your auto accident lawsuit as soon as the complaint is filed, and will fight for you every step of the way. He lays the groundwork early in your case so that it will ready if it goes to trial. This includes:

  • Developing a case strategy,
  • Obtaining necessary documents and testimony, and
  • Working with expert witnesses.

When your case is referred to case evaluation, Tom will prepare a detailed summary of your case and present it to the Court appointed evaluators or mediator. If no favorable settlement can be found, Tom will prepare the case and proceed to represent you at trial.

Tom Economy makes sure you are informed and involved every step of the way. Once your lawsuit is filed, Tom will meet with you to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the case and answer any questions you may have. From time to time he or his assistant will contact you to get updates on any developments in your treatment.

When it comes time for your deposition, Tom will meet with and prepare you for the defense attorney’s questioning. Then he will be by your side to ensure that the process is conducted in a professional and appropriate manner.

Tom will also meet with you at various pre-trial court hearings, like settlement conferences, and will make sure you are prepared for trial. Tom says:

“Easily the best part of my job is getting a hug or a ‘thank you’ from my client at the end of a hard fought case. Our clients have suffered terrible wrongs and serious injuries, so the ability to use my training and skills to help a person that really needs help is very rewarding.”

Tom is a resident of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. When he isn’t at the office, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife Helen, a pediatrician, and their two young children. He is an avid University of Michigan sports fan and also enjoys history, music, films, traveling and coaching his son’s travel baseball team.
